Components Of Rap

Components Of Rap

Okay, so every now and then you hear a rapper say what the are to rap, or you hear them say what they are known as. I gave this some thought, and decided to let yall know what these guys actually are. Now, the componnents on this list are only the ones I could figure out. I did not include Innocence, Honor, or a host of other ideals that could have been added to this list. Also, I think that some of the deciding aspects I associated with the individuals on this list spill over into some of the other guys. I mean, they are all human and no man can embody or represent the ideals I tailored to them without being influenced or influencing some of the others on this list.  Please leave a comment and let me know if you guys have any suggestions that should be considered to make tis list whole.

JAY Z  - PRIDE

Jay is definitely the PRIDE of the rap game. He is respected on nearly every front and you can tell that he is a proud man. Even if he is not proud, his fans are proud enough for him.

NAS - PRAYER

Prayer is simply talking to God. No one does this as often as Nas. Everything he does seems to be a statement to our creator. If the rap game has a mouthpiece to adress the king of creation it has to be Nas.

TUPAC SHAKUR - SPIRIT

Tupac has to be the spirit of the game. Everyone of note refrences him and most are inspired by him. Even in death he continues to have a major effect on the rap game. His esscence seems to permeate through every song that is worth the words it took to speak it.

LUPE FIASCO - INTELLIGENCE

Lupe hasb't been in the game as long as the others on this list but if his lyrics are any indication he has the mental fortitude to ascertain success over any venture he sets his mind toward. Lupe is the brain of the game. I wonder how much he really "dumbs down" so that the masses can relate to him?

T.I. - TRUTH

Real recognize and real and anyone real who has ever put TIP in their Kenwood knows that he is ,without a doubt, the TRUTH. Unlike most artist, I believe that there is litte or no embellishment in TI's lyrics. He gives it to you raw and uncut. As long as he keeps that up he will continue to be the TRUTH.

EMINEM - WRATH

I struggled with Shady because I knew he was something but Initially I could not place my finger on it.  I focused on his dual nature and tried to find the constant in his lyrics. When I finished I realized the the constant was anger. Although at times it was draped with sarcasm, it was present in 95% of his lyrics. Wrath is powerful. I hope Shady can handle the backlash his powerful lyrics will inevitably create.

LiL WAYNE - PAIN

Weezy is Pain. There is no questioning that. It is very evident if you listen to alot of his music.  He gives it to you in pieces but he does give it to you. He is PAIN masquerading as JEST. He veils the vulnerability that accompanies PAIN as well as Eminem hides his own weakness. However, there are times when Weezy embraces the pain of his past ... of his people and when he does, that is when he really shines.

I hope yall will leave comments letting me know what yall think of this. take care.  - X16
